A material research project exploring the relationship between wood and territory across European regions.
Working through botanical dyeing processes, Fior draws out the ecological and geographical character embedded in locally sourced timber — treating colour and surface not as applied finish but as a record of place. The project moves between making and mapping, tracing how material identity shifts across regional boundaries.
The colour palette emerged from an extensive research phase in which over 40 natural ingredients were tested alongside varying extraction techniques — adjusting concentration, temperature, and process to understand how each material releases and holds colour. From this, a focused set of sources was selected: red pepper, blueberries, raspberries, spirulina, saffron, and cabbage, each applied in combination with regionally sourced woods.
The result is a range of surfaces that are directly tied to botanical and territorial origin.
